Nestled along the banks of the Mira River in Cape Breton, Zion/Wesley United Church has gathered neighbours together for more than a century and a half — to worship, to support one another, and to serve the world in the spirit of Jesus.
Two convictions guide everything we do as a congregation — the vision that draws us forward and the mission that shapes our life together each day.
We envision a community transformed by the love of God — where every person, regardless of background or belief, is met with dignity, compassion, and belonging. We dream of a Marion Bridge and a world where justice, reconciliation, and care for creation are not distant ideals but lived realities in every home and neighbourhood.
Rooted in the teaching and example of Jesus Christ, our mission is to gather as an open and inclusive community of faith — to worship God with honesty and joy, to grow together in understanding, and to reach outward in service and solidarity to our neighbours near and far. We are called to love boldly and act faithfully.
Zion/Wesley United Church has been a spiritual home for the people of Marion Bridge and the surrounding Mira River valley since the nineteenth century. We are a congregation of the United Church of Canada — the country's largest Protestant denomination — and we bring to our shared life a heritage of both the Methodist and Presbyterian traditions.
Whether you are a lifelong churchgoer, someone returning to faith after a long absence, or simply curious about what a welcoming congregation looks like — there is a seat for you in our sanctuary. We ask only that you come as you are.
